Q: What is the painting process for your work?
A: Each of my pieces are unique and hand constructed from start to finish using traditional materials and techniques. I begin with a concept sketch that will become a precise line drawing that I transfer onto Arches Watercolor Paper, after the sketch is transferred I will place my background watercolor wash, followed by acrylic paint, and the final step is the hand applied dip pen and ink line work.
Q: Who is your frame supplier?
A: I love combining the lush old world flourishes of antique frames with my contemporary images. Part of the framing process involves scouring antique stores and local consignment shops looking for the ideal frame for each painting. Sometimes the frames are perfect as is, often I alter them to better reflect the character of the painting it is designated to.
Q: May I commission a painting?
A: I enjoy working with patrons to create custom commission portraits and paintings, please email me your request and we may discuss the details of your unique project.
